Job Description:
Whilst working as part of a team, your responsibilities will include planning, directing and completing audits; supervising staff; and reviewing financial statements and related technical accounting services. You’ll work closely with partners and staff on people and client management and practice development.
What you’ll be doing:
- Run client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing financial audits and managing to budget
- Prepare or review work papers and drafts of the financial statements
- You'll produce client deliverables, specifically drafting reports for management review

- Identify, discuss and propose conclusions on technical areas of financial reporting and audit issues identified during the course of the audit
- Oversee aspects of audit fieldwork and completion
- Take an active part in the audit planning discussions to identify audit risks and devise an appropriate audit strategy
- Be a key client contact, providing a hands-on role that exceeds client expectations
- Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns on audit process and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed.
- Work with audit team to identify and resolve client issues discovered during audit process.
- Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve audit-related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
- Assist partners and senior management on proposals and business development calls.
- Gain comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives and utilize that knowledge on engagements.
- Participate in recruiting efforts as needed.
- Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis.
Who we're looking for:
- Two to five years of progressive public accounting experience with in-charge auditing
- Previous experience working on Financial Services clients such as Banks, Asset Management and Insurance
- Professionally qualified (ACA, CA, ACCA)
- Have experience of working on complex audits and delegating workloads accordingly
- Comfortable using audit software and Microsoft packages
- Strong technical accounting skills with proficiency in IFRS
- Ability to supervise staff and lead projects
- Previous experience of auditing relevant industries to Grant Thornton’s client base
- Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment
- Strong leadership, recruiting, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
